Hadley came through the procedure today well. The spinal tap went smooth and her numbers are strong, ANC of over 6000…. We are so blessed but it just does not get easier experiencing your child throw up, especially from Chemo. Oh how it can be intense…. She may be worn out and tired but we do know this –

Jesus loves me! This I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong,
They are weak but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Beki and I are so blessed to have so many praying for Hadley and we must also continue to pray for those who are going through similar circumstances.

A father’s gratitude

How does a child go from throwing up from Chemo to say “it does make me feel better”? As a parent, it breaks your heart to see a child get sick but it also makes you proud of how she handles it. I wonder if I would be so adult about it and I am a grown man.

Now she says “hey dad, I put a picture in your bathroom for you to see in the morning”. She is taking care of me, thinking of me, because I flew home in the middle of the night and had been gone all week. I must not forget that Jonah had breakfast for me when I got home also.

Going in to Fathers Day, I realize that all of us have challenges and sometimes your normal changes due to challenges. I hope all Fathers feel as blessed as I this weekend.

Grateful for prayers

Grateful for your prayers… This mornings clinic visit went very smoothly. Numbers are way up. Although accessing her port is a scary thing, she got through it and didn’t throw up. Major victories! Praising Him!

As a bonus, we got to meet one of the families that have been fed through our Hearts for Hadley campaign. ♥

Barf bags, napkins and hand disinfectant are necessary items in the life of a Leukemia patient while traveling in a vehicle. Stuck in line at Chick-fil-a is no exception. Mommy jumps into motion for Hadley throwing up at a time you are least prepared. Sometimes you catch yourself saying “why does this little girl”? and then you stop. You pause. You are reminded that, in the life of the believer, God

“works all things together for good” (Romans 8:28)

— and “all things” includes cancer.

hadleyis5 It is hard to believe that this little girl is 5 years old today. It is also hard to believe that we are fast approaching 1 year mark of Leukemia diagnosis. What a blessing she has been and so proud of how she has handled everything that has been thrown at her. We are also tremendously blessed by family, friends and community.

childrenshospital Clinic today… While the treatment can be tough, the nurses are a joy. They always sing and play with Hadley. God truly placed these nurses in the right occupation.

zoojanuary Kids fun run at the zoo this morning. Hadley ran the 1 mile race and only walked twice and that was because there were walking zones… It made a father proud to run with her this morning.
